Tourist season slightly above expectations

The course of the tourist season so far is showing results slightly above the expectations, tourism minister Damir Bajs claims. At the press conference he presented the latest data by the Croatian National Tourist Board for August and the first eight months of the year.
In August there were 2.8 million tourists in Croatia, or 3 per cent more than in July, while the number of overnight stays rose by 1 per cent to 18.4 million. In the first eight months 8.7 million tourists recorded 49.9 million overnight stays, which is by 3 and 4 per cent respectively more than in the same period last year. Considering a good start of the post season, Bajs expects the plans of increasing the numbers of arrivals and overnight stays by 2 to 3 per cent, and a 5 per cent increase in revenue to be achieved.
