Increase in the number of new apartments in Zagreb in the first half of 2008

Construction companies completed construction of 1,817 apartments in the first six months of 2008, which is 1,015 apartments or 126.6 per cent more than in the same period last year, the Zagreb Office for Strategic Planning and Development has reported.
At the same time, the number of apartments under construction was lower. At the end of June, there were 7,207 of them, 143 fewer than at the same time last year.
The total value of construction work in the first six months of 2008 in Zagreb was KN 5.8 billion (EUR 828 million), which is KN 94 million, or 1.6 per cent, more than in the first half of 2007.
New orders increased by 4.2 per cent to KN 3.95 billion (EUR 564 million).
