Construction of the Peljesac Bridge to start in a month
12 May 2008
Works on building the Peljesac Bridge will intensify in a month and a half at the latest, confirmed Jure Radic, Civil Engineering Institute of Croatia (IGH) director Jure Radic at the discussion panel “Traffic Future of the Croatian South”.
Although the public watches the developments regarding this bridge with suspicion, Radic believes there is no place for doubts. “Yes, the bridge is really being built, and with the maximum intensity,” Radic said, confirming that the money for building the bridge had been provided in the budget.
The Peljesac Bridge should be completed in four years. While Croatia will continue the negotiations with Bosnia-Herzegovina regarding motorways, Radic believes the bridge can no longer be a matter of bilateral negotiations or disputes, since it is being built on the Croatian territory and B-H has clear access to the Neum port.
