Foreign investors in real estate in Croatia concerned with closed market

06 May 2008

The message from the presentation called “Investment real estate market and determining value in the present market conditions” is that the biggest problem of foreign companies investing in the Croatian real estate market is the lack of quality products. The presentation was a part of the fourth annual international conference on the Croatian real estate market and speakers included King Sturge director Jens J. Moller Madsen, Paul Suchar of KPMG Croatia, and Raffi Killian of Heitman.

They concluded that the Croatian market could not be characterized as an investment one, but is instead at an early stage of development, in all sectors. Apart from that, investors face “classic Croatian problems”, such as speculative business that does not contribute to the standardization of business frameworks and security, which are necessary for losing the risk profile. The problems result from the lack of a bigger development strategy concept.
