New hotels in Dubrovnik area
29 July 2008
In the (re)construction of hotels in the Dubrovnik area will be invested about HRK 3 billion in the next two years. As a result, hotel accommodation capacity should increase by 2,500 new beds, the head of the local tourist board has announced, reports Croatian daily Slobodna Dalmacija.
The first hotel from the Aman Resort chain in Croatia will be built in Cavtat and the first SAS Radisson hotel will open in Orasac next year. The island of Lopud will get a Hilton Grand in 2009, owned by Atlantska plovidba.
Although tourism volumes have been more or less stagnant in the region in the past three years and there are fewer overnight stays, hotels are reporting higher revenues. Niko Bulic, the head of the Croatian Tourism Board, has announced major changes in the country’s effort to become a luxury lifestyle destination.
