Cruise ships in Adriatic on the rise

The number of foreign cruise ships which ploughed the Adriatic waters in the first five months this year reached 180.
According to data by the Croatian Statistics Institute, quoted by the Zagreb office of Italian Foreign Trade Institute (ICE), the number of transported passengers exceeded the 200,000 threshold, registering an 80% rise compared to the same period last year.
The highest number of cruise ships was registered last May with a 42% increase compared to May 2007. The guests spent in Croatia 418 days, which is a 109% rise compared to the same period last year.
The highest number of cruise ships waved the flag of the Republic of Malta (35), followed by the Bahamas (29), Italy (24) and Panama (20). The most visited port was Dubrovnik, followed by the ports of Split, Korcula and Zadar.
