Number of building permits continues to fall

During November last year a total of 1,010 building permits were issued in Croatia, which is by 5.3 percent less than in October and by 27.8 percent less than in November 2006, reports the National Bureau of Statistics. November was the fourth straight month with a decrease in the number of building permits year-on-year. 11,365 building permits were issued in the first 11 months of the year, which is by 8.4 percent less than in the same period in 2006.
The total value of construction work by issued permits continues to grow, exceeding HRK 28.7 billion in the first 11 months of 2007, which is up by 23.8 percent compared to the same period last year, in nominal terms. The overwhelming majority of this amount, HRK 19.1 billion, refers to buildings, while the work on other facilities was worth 9.62 billion. 8,979 permits were issued for new buildings, which generated HRK 24.74 billion in value.
