Number of building permits down by nearly 20 per cent

The total of 989 building permits were issued in Croatia during June, which is by 9.3 per cent less compared with June 2007, when 1,091 permits were issued, reports the Central Bureau of Statistics (Crostat).
The number of building permits in the first six months of the year fell by 19.6 per cent, to 5,057, compared with the same period last year. The value of construction work based on building permits issued in June 2008 amounted to HRK 2.08 billion, which is by 29.7 per cent less year-on-year.
Compared with the first half of 2007, the value of construction work in the first six months this year was down by 11 per cent to HRK 12.93 billion.
