Getting There

 

By air

There are eight major airports in Croatia: Zagreb, Split, Dubrovnik, Rijeka (the island of Krk), Pula, Zadar, Brac and Osijek.

Scheduled flights from the UK to Croatia are operated by Croatia Airlines (Zagreb, Split, Dubrovnik, Rijeka), British Airways (Split, Dubrovnik), Wizz Air, Easyjet, and Ryanair. Wizz Air fly from London Luton to Zagreb and Split, Easyjet have flights from London Luton to Rijeka and Ryanair have flights from London Stanstead to Pula. Some charter airlines operate seasonal services from the UK to coastal airports.

By road

All countries with land borders to Croatia offering crossing points by road, and the roads within the country are all of a good standard. Bus and coach services to the country are available from Austria, Bosnia Herzegovina, Germany, Hungary, Italy and Slovakia, as well as a service offered by Eurolines, operating out of London’s Victoria Coach Station.

A standard EU driving license is accepted as documentation as long as it is accompanied by a valid passport.

By train

There are a number of ways of getting to Croatia by train. One of which is to catch the Eurostar to Paris, then on to Munich and from there to Zagreb. There are also direct rail services available from Austria, Hungary, Italy, Serbia and Montenegro, Slovenia and Switzerland.

By ferry

There are a number of connections that run from Croatia’ main ports to Italy, using both passenger and car ferries. There are also a number of hydrofoil services available for those who wish to travel a little faster.
